Donation Cans Project to Aid Abused Horses
The MSSPA is thrilled to announce the start of its Aid for Abused Horses donation can program. With the generous volunteer assistance of Emma and her mother, Jodi, the Society has begun collecting coffee cans/covers (please save yours and drop them off when you come to visit the farm!). Emma and her friends are adding their creative energy by decorating – beautifully - the cans with appealing horse art. Jodi provides the transportation of the colorful cans to/from individual businesses who have agreed to maintain a donation can on behalf of abused or neglected horses. The MSSPA receives all of the donations and 100% of the donated funds go directly to care for the more than eighty horses being rehabilitated or maintained at the MSSPA.
The Society extends a heartfelt whinny to the following businesses who have agreed to support the donation can project:
Blue Seal Feeds, South Windham, Maine
Thayer’s Market, South Windham, Maine
Lynne’s Southside Pizzeria, South Windham, Maine
Corsetti’s Market, Windham, Maine
Colucci’s Market, Windham, Maine
Harbor Fish Market, Portland, Maine
This week the MSSPA welcomes Harbor Fish Market, located at 9 Custom House Wharf, Portland, Maine to the growing list of locations that are supporting the animals of the Society by maintaining a donation can on-site. Join the horses in extending another heartfelt whinny to Ben Alfiero and the Alfiero family for their generosity. Please stop by Harbor Fish and put that donation can to good use! While visiting Harbor Fish, treat yourself to some of the freshest seafood to be found along the Maine coast. You may also visit Harbor Fish on the web at www.harborfish.com
Everyone here at the MSSPA encourages folks to patronize the shops and businesses who support the animals of the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals.
Please join the Aid for Abused Horses program! If you own or operate an area business and are willing to host a donation can, please contact Meris J. Bickford of the MSSPA by calling 207-892-3040 or send an email: MerisBickfordMSSPA@roadrunner.com The Society would be delighted to help promote your business to our membership and supporters. The MSSPA wants to feature your business on its website!
If you want to volunteer to help with the creation of donation cans or the transportation of donation cans, get in touch with Meris. She will put you to work helping the MSSPA help Maine horses who have suffered abuse and neglect!
With the costs of hay, grain, better, and veterinary care increasing at an alarming rate, it is more difficult that ever to provide all that is needed to restore abused or neglected horses to good health. The horses of the MSSPA need your help to recover their health. So, please get involved – it will make you feel great and it will really help. Every penny counts!
Thank you to Emma, Jodi, and all those currently involved with the Aid to Abused Horses project.
