Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals Hires Volunteer Coordinator
More Volunteers Sought to Help Area Nonprofit Care for Abused and Neglected Animals
The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, New England’s largest equine rescue and rehabilitation center, today announced it has hired Michelle Melaragno as its Volunteer Coordinator. Society President Marilyn L. Goodreau said, “We are pleased to have an individual of Michelle’s caliber to serve as our liaison with those community individuals and institutions who give so much of themselves on behalf of the animals.” Ms. Melaragno brings an abundance of animal welfare experience to the Society and has worked with other Maine non-profits to develop and implement robust volunteer programs. She is a former manager at the Pineland Farms Equestrian Center and most recently served as the first chairperson of the all-volunteer Maine Equine Welfare Alliance. “All of us welcome Michelle’s enthusiasm and depth of knowledge. She will energize the Society’s volunteer program and support the volunteers who are an invaluable asset to our organization,” said Meris J. Bickford, MSSPA Vice President and CEO.
