'Tis the season for giving thanks!
The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals gives thanks for your generosity. As members and supporters of the Society, you are the foundation on which our organization depends. Each dollar you give throughout the year is devoted 100% to the care and feeding of neglected or abused large animals who have been seized by Maine law enforcement agents. Thank you for every note, letter, call, and visit. Most of all, thank you for providing the money that is necessary to restore the animals to their best potential for a peaceful, secure life.
To celebrate the season and to thank supporters, you are invited to join the animals and staff of the Society for a Holiday Open House. On December 5th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at 279 River Road, South Windham we will be decking the stalls with boughs of evergreens – everyone is welcome and once again our kids’ stall will offer free ornament making for all our young visitors. Carols will be sung, we will provide holiday treats, and you can shop for gifts to please the animal lovers in your life. We will raffle handmade holiday wreaths and for one day only, gorgeous donated Christmas trees will be on sale for $25.00 - get yours while the supply lasts! There is still time to get your raffle tickets for the Purple Pagoda Tree. The lucky winner’s name will be drawn at the Holiday Open House.
In keeping with the season of giving, there is no admission fee or requirement to buy anything. The Holiday Open House is our chance to give the gift of seeing and touching rehabilitated animals to the people who help make it possible. We love to share the feeling of having accomplished something that is worthwhile and makes a genuine difference in the world. The hot cider will warm your fingers when you wrap them around your cup, and your heart will be warmed by the sight of once abused and neglected horses greeting you from across the stall doors. You don’t have to believe in Christmas to recognize that miracles take place in the MSSPA barns every day.
The true meaning of the holidays is giving and receiving friendship and love. Experience those gifts by meeting your friends at 279 River Road, South Windham, Maine on December 5th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The animals and staff look forward to seeing you.
