Have you missed visiting the MSSPA horses over the last few months? They have certainly missed seeing you–as has everyone here at New England’s premier horse shelter. Starting July 7th, you’re invited to “Picnic with Ponies.” Read on for all the details and make sure to register using the form at the bottom of this page. Please remember that outside of scheduled Picnic with Ponies visits, MSSPA is not yet open to visitors. Though no payment is required to Picnic with Ponies, donations are always appreciated. 100% of your donation goes to the feeding and care of the rescued horses.
When? One hour picnic slots are available twice daily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, starting July 7th. The available time slots are 11:30AM – 12:30PM or 1:00PM – 2:00PM.
Who? Groups are limited to a total of 8 people, including children.
Where? Come to the River Road farm, where MSSPA will provide access to picnic tables equipped with umbrellas. Picnic-ers will be asked to stay within a defined section of the property and refrain from entering indoor areas including the barns, training arena, and the main Keddy building. Visitors will have access to a Porta Potty.
How? Picnic-ers are welcome to bring their own food, beverages, and supplies. Please plan to carry out all refuse; leave nothing behind but your hoofprints! Alcoholic beverages and smoking are strictly forbidden on MSSPA property.
What Else? Groups will be provided with an information packet, including bios of the horses they can visit from their picnic area. An MSSPA goodie bag will be given to each child. An MSSPA volunteer or staff member will be available to direct picnic-ers and answer questions.
