Horses

Horses

Welcome to our “Horses” program, specifically tailored for visiting students in junior high (grades 6-8).

This level of programming provides an enriching exploration of equine health and welfare, equine protection and rescue, and basic horse handling, perfectly suited for young learners in their pre- and early teenage years.

Through engaging activities, immersive experiences, and interactive lessons, students delve into the world of horses and rescue, gaining a solid understanding of equine care, behavior, and stable management. From learning about horse anatomy and leading and grooming techniques to understanding the principles of tack and equipment, our program offers a captivating introduction to equine rescue and management that fosters practical skills and responsible stewardship.

Whether through hands-on* or other immersive opportunities for learning, students will develop confidence, empathy, teamwork, and leadership skills while forging meaningful connections with our equine partners. During farm tours, demonstrations, or supervised grooming and groundwork sessions, students gain exposure to a wide range of equine and farm management experiences. Whether they dream of pursuing further equestrian endeavors or simply harbor a love for our equine partners, our junior high program offers a rewarding journey of discovery, growth, and appreciation for the bond between humans and horses.

*Hands-on experiences are available depending on the group, availability of appropriate horses, and availability of staff to help handle horses. Due to the need for increased staff presence and use of our rescue horses during hands-on experiences, we ask for a donation per person to participate.
