Juniper
Born: 2000
Breed: Quarter Horse
Sex: Gelding
Color: Chestnut
Height: 15.2hh

Juniper is a friendly, easy-going gentleman who has taken everything calmly in stride since arriving at the farm in April. He is well-mannered for both the vet and farrier and is currently in front shoes (we are working toward keeping him barefoot).
He gets along well with mares and geldings, and he is currently turned out in a mixed herd during the day, and spends his nights in the barn. He has also done well in a run-in situation. Juniper is the ultimate gentleman – he’s very sweet, polite, and loves to connect with his people. He will meet you at the gate and dip his nose right in the halter to go on a walk around the farm or practice liberty work in the arena. He was also a kind, eager, and calm participant in our summer programming with kids, being the best boy as the kids drew all over him with chalk, groomed him, and led him over obstacles.
We are currently working on building his strength before we ask him to carry a rider, though we know he was ridden lightly in his previous home. At 25, he’s likely nearing retirement, but he is still active, engaging, and looking for a meaningful job. We are hopeful he will be happy doing light riding with the right partner, but more to come as we continue his fitness program and evaluations.
