Rosa came to the MSSPA as part of a group of six horses surrendered to the State of Maine. While many of the horses were understandably anxious as they adjusted to their new surroundings, Rosa quietly accepted each new experience with calm confidence, becoming a steady presence for the rest of the herd.
She has especially bonded with Queenie, helping the nearly blind little mare navigate the world with quiet reassurance.
Rosa is a kind, easygoing mare who seems to carry herself with a wisdom beyond her years. We initially assumed she was one of the oldest horses in the group, only to discover through a dental exam that she was younger than we thought.
We’re currently working with our veterinarian to better understand some hind-end balance issues, but Rosa continues to take life in stride. We’re still getting to know her, but one thing is already clear—she has a quiet way of making everyone around her feel a little more settled.
