Tales is a lovely Quarter Horse mare in her twenties whose gentle nature has quickly made her a favorite around the barn. She recently returned to the MSSPA after an adoption didn’t work out, and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to help her find the right forever home.
If attention – and perhaps a treat or two – is available, Tales would very much like to be included. She is happiest with people, content to stand nearby soaking up scratches, affection, and as much one-on-one time as anyone is willing to offer.
When the summer heat rolls in, you’ll usually find Tales standing directly in front of the barn fan, happily enjoying the breeze. She seems convinced it was installed specifically for her, and honestly…we haven’t had the heart to tell her otherwise.
Calm, kind, and remarkably steady, not much seems to rattle her. Perhaps that’s why she’s become such an important friend to Zara, another recent return to the farm. Where Zara tends to approach the world with a little more uncertainty, Tales offers a quiet confidence that seems to help her feel safe.
Tales has Cushing’s disease, which is well managed with medication. Because of this, she’ll be looking for a home with a dry lot or where her grass intake can be carefully monitored. She has previously been ridden, but for now we’re simply letting her settle back into farm life while she regains her health and we get reacquainted.
Some horses make an impression with big personalities. Tales does it with quiet companionship. She’s the kind of horse who simply wants to be close – and somehow, that’s exactly where everyone wants her to be.
