Around the MSSPA, everyone knows him by the same name: Old Man.
Diederik is the kind of horse who quietly steals your heart. With his frosted gray face, soulful eyes, and gentle nature, he has a way of making everyone who meets him feel like they’ve just made a new friend. He adores attention, happily stands for endless grooming sessions, and somehow even manages to make the occasional bit of drool seem endearing.
Like many senior horses, Diederik has a few health challenges, including very minimal chewing surfaces left on the teeth that remain.
Diederik doesn’t ask for much. A few scratches, a little company, and someone willing to appreciate the quiet joy of simply being together. Despite the difficult hand he was dealt, he has reminded all of us that kindness can survive even the hardest chapters.
