Bailey is a Quarter Horse/Paint pony who came to the MSSPA as part of a group of six horses surrendered to the State of Maine. While she’s only been with us a short time, one thing became clear almost immediately – where Bailey goes, Dezzi goes too. The two have been attached at the hip since the day they arrived.
Bailey is a kind, gentle mare who has quietly settled into life at the farm. She greets people with a soft, willing nature and seems grateful for the simple comforts of good care and a safe place to call home.
Like many of the horses who come to us, Bailey has a few challenges to overcome. She lives with heaves, a chronic respiratory condition that makes breathing difficult without medication. We continue to work closely with her veterinarian to find the management plan that helps her feel her very best.
In many ways, Bailey is still introducing herself to us. As she settles in, we’re beginning to catch glimpses of her personality, and we look forward to learning more about the mare behind those kind eyes.
For now, we’re simply happy to watch her breathe a little easier, spend her days beside her best friend, and discover what life looks like when healing has room to happen.
