Moxie

Born: 2010

Breed: Quarter Horse

Gender: Gelding

Color: Sorrel

Moxie came to us with his friend Smokin’ from a loving home that unfortunately could no longer afford their care. From the start, he made it clear – he’s charmer who wants to be part of all the things.

He’s a big love. So big, we sometimes call him “Mox the Ox.”

Moxie is often the first to the gate, eager for attention and connection, quickly winning over anyone who spends time with him. At the same time, the world is still relatively new to him. With limited past experiences, unfamiliar situations can bring up some big feelings, and he’s still learning how to navigate them.

He’s also working through some ongoing hoof challenges and building confidence with routine care, including standing for the vet and farrier.

But what makes Moxie special is his willingness. Even with uncertainty, he tries. Whether it’s stepping into the arena for only his second time or participating in hands-on volunteer sessions, he continues to surprise us with his curiosity and heart.

Moxie is the kind of horse who meets you halfway—and sometimes more—reminding you that growth doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.
